12/28/2023 0 Comments Logitech folio touch vs magic keyboardYesterday my gf was doing a quiz online and she almost lost it at how often her logitech case kept disconnecting (forcing you to frantically move ur finger on the trackpad till it connects again or re-attach it). I returned mine because of the issues i talked about but also had noticed the keyboard disconnecting occasionally. That allows me to optimally use my ipad for both on the go and desk-setup scenarios imo.Īlso maybe its just a fluke but i originally bought two Logitech CTs for both me and my gf because of the better price when compared to the MK. Im at work typing this on the MK right now but when i go home i sometimes take my ipad out of the MK and prop it on my ipad holder next to my monitor (closer to eye level for me) and use apples universal control from my mac mini to control the ipad with my MX master mouse+keyboard and apple trackpad (letting me use the keyboard and mouse i already own). ![]() Unfortunately neither MK or logitech keyboards work when they are physically detached as they are both paired and powered by the ipad via the connector pins and not bluetooth. However, the logitech CT’s kickstand is only usable in landscape mode. You can always detach the keyboard and use the logitech one portrait/landscape (tablet mode) just as u would an ipad with a generic case. I can also confidently say that i use my ipad over desktop/laptop more ever since i switched from the logitech to the MK as it made a huge difference in the experience. MK is better for aesthetics, sturdiness, ease of use (in keyboard mode) and portability. My girlfriend on the other had uses the ipad for creativity and drawing mainly and even she hates her logitech case for the annoyance of opening/closing but i convinced her to stick with it so that it will be protected better whilst in tablet only mode and she could use the keyboard if she ever chooses for browsing/work. ![]() I personally dont care about protection as much since i use a bag to carry around my ipad regardless of which case i use and you can also get a d-brand skin for the sides of your ipad if youre concerned with scratches while using the MK. I find the Logitech case extremely annoying to open and close and the typing experience is noticeably worse (but not by a whole lot) The “cons” of the MK such as the lack of function keys and smaller trackpad can easily be worked around by using the control centre with your finger/ tackpad and increasing the trackpad sensitivity. The viewing angles limitations on the MK have never been an issue for me and wont be for 99% of ppl. Way easier to use on a small living room table without having to clear things off, on your lap, on university lecture tables or even standing up with the non dominant hand under the magic keyboard for support. The much smaller footprint of the MK as well as its sturdiness, thanks to its hinge design. Since mine is mainly using it with an attached keyboard for on the go or at-home productivity and entertainment, i pick the MK over logitech EVERYTIME At least it has a back cover, which Apple's Smart Keyboard for the 8th-gen iPad lacks.I would say it kinda depends on your use case. That means it won't offer any real drop protection at all, but it stays on in a laptop sleeve or bag. ![]() It just snaps around the Air's back and hugs it with magnets. Also consider Apple's Smart Keyboard Folio ($179): Best slim case with keyboard benefitsĪpple's older keyboard case lacks a trackpad and backlit keys, but it's an interesting ultraslim option. That's the weirdest part of the Magic Keyboard, even though I love using it a lot more than I expected I would. The Magic Keyboard isn't made for anything other than typing or landscape-mode work, and can't bend back to use for normal everyday browsing and use. You could snap a Pencil 2 on the iPad Air while it's in the Magic Keyboard case, but using the iPad Air for portrait-mode work or sketching would mean popping the iPad out of the case. Logitech's keyboard ends up feeling more expansive. The palm rest area is smaller too, because the keyboard is shifted farther down. The Magic Keyboard lacks the extra function keys of Logitech's folio case, and the trackpad is smaller.
